What arestructured investments?

Structured Investments

A structured investment is a pre-packaged investment strategy that provides exposure to underlying assets which may include a single stock, a basket of stocks, indices, commodities, debt securities, listed futures contracts, exchange traded funds, managed funds and/or foreign currencies.

Structured investments are investments that are customised to meet specific investment objectives. They typically have the aim of either enabling access to unique investment thematics or underlying assets or improving the risk/reward ratio compared to traditional investments, or both.

Structured investments can be used as an alternative to a direct investment, as part of the asset allocation process to increase diversification or reduce risk exposure of a portfolio, or to obtain leverage to a current market trend or investment theme.

Some examples of the customised features that could be included within the termsof the structured investment can include:

Limited Recourse Leverage

Enabling accelerated capital growth with limited downside risk, no margin calls, no credit checks, SMSF eligible

Capital Protection

Managing the downside risk on a specific underlying asset or portfolio in the context of a fully funded investment

Diversification

Providing exposure to a wide range of asset classes within a single investment or access to a new asset class or investment theme which investors are not expected to currently have within their existing portfolio (e.g. commodities or dispersion). This can be delivered in either a fully funded or leveraged format
